Where in Seattle do you live? I was there for two years but the darkness never really got to me. I can remember thinking it would be nicer if the sun was out a little more sometimes but I found lots of things to keep occupied up there. I don't like the heat here, the winters are fine but the summer months can get unbearable, I am a cool weather person. I work outside allot and the constant sunshine is too much in the summer.

I never felt as good here (physically and mentally) as I did in Seattle. I always thought it was the temperature diff. But only recently I discovered that the air quality in Seattle is much better than SD. Actually SD county is 15th in the nation for bad air. Seattle ranks very well for air quality in most parts, especially for a big city. I think that that could have been one major reason why I felt better there. I really notice it when the air gets bad here, (makes me feel irritable) especially combined with the heat. It is terrible when we have wildfires and lately they have been huge and more frequent. Then afterwards the ash blows around in the air for months and months.

Coming from Texas you would fit in much better in SD than Seattle.
