Looking for recommendations on things to do while im there. Itll be during Thanksgiving week. I live in NJ and will be making a trip to San Diego for the first time - first time to Cali as well.

Heads up that the first weekend in November, Friday 11-3 and Saturday 11-4, is the Breeders Cup at Del Mar and you have to have bought a ticket already, no walk ups that day. Any other day of the meet you can.

Oh I know, lol. Ill be there the week of the 18th.
I was at the Breeders Cup in the mid 2000s when it was at Monmouth Park here in NJ

Balboa Park!! I also typically take our out of state friends and family to Belmont Park - sitting at the WaveHouse people watching is so fun!!

Short time visitors I suggest Balboa Park/Zoo and La Jolla
You won't find Breeders Cup seats here ... the locals have been waiting waiting and waiting again to get the event. Tickets will be 3/4 times the face on secondary markets, but the track will be open for Bing Crosby Season and it is quite the experience - I just did opening day today

Fall in San Diego. The leaves are turning color, kids bundled up waiting for the school bus, and probably the first snowfall of the season. The plows will be out in Del Mar getting the track ready, shoppers in their mittens and youngsters sharpening their skates waiting for Mission Bay to freeze over.
Just kidding. November is like October and October is like September...and so on and so on. Whatever you choose to do, do it outside. Should be mid 70s. Makes getting back on the plane to Jersey that much harder.

i just got home. Did it seem as crowded today as it has been? I was on the grandstand (stretch run) side and while crowded, it didn't seem like the crush of people I've seen in past years. Curious what you thought.

Horse racing is a dying sport, literally and figuratively. Too many horses are dying...has turned a lot of people off, especially younger demos. Weekend crowds should be bigger if season will succeed. I remember the "glory days"...80's and 90's...the limos, big crowds, Bully's being the place to party...it was some fun!
