Put this on the politics board as well - - saw this on the 5 pm NBC 7 newscast:

* Eight shops are open for business right now; they average between 200-300 customers per day.

* One specific shop said they are selling about $10,000 of product per day.

* A different shop said they are getting a lot of out-of-state business. They didn't say whether the out-of-staters were coming from Arizona or were people visiting while on vacation/out for work.

* Apparently banks won't work with the pot shops. No one wanted to say what they were doing with the money (or how the taxing works from there).

You can't legally CCW but you can carry on private property, but the LAST thing I'd do would be work at one with that much $ flying around. No...way..in..hell. These places are just begging to get robbed at gun point.

High risk = high return

So true ^^ these new business seem very vulnerable right now. I wonder what type of security measures they are taking.

Since the new licensed pot shops are cash businesses they are definitely targets to get robbed. From what I understand most of these places have security present to hopefully prevent problems.

All of the shops have armed security in them, and the doors are kept locked. There's now a security company that specialized in armed security for marijuana shops.

There was an article in the NY Times earlier this week about how pot shops have gotten around the issue of banking, if anyone is interested.

Where Pot Entrepreneurs Go When The Banks Just Say No

I haven't read much about the State's plan to ensure that all taxes will be collected - anyone know?
