Remember, the cost - in money - is really a hit on the lack of buying power of the money token in circulation.
And can you guess which agency controls the volume and value of circulating money tokens?
Or that a dollar bill (paper) is not a dollar (coin)?
When will 'they' end the state of emergency (in effect since 1933)?

Best not to bother the public servants with such pesky questions.

Tahoe is not extremely cold. If anything it’s reasonably warm for a place to ski. It’s not cold like a Minnesota cold.

I can't get enough of the National Parks and they don't have the crowds of Yosemite...

No place like the Pudget Sound and Canada is just a ferry ride away... summers are glorious and NO Water Issues... my artesian well is pure and unlimited.

My issue is I am tied down with family obligations in California... a parent with memory issues and business interests...

Still can't believe 15 years later that a mere working stiff could afford such granduer simply by crossing state lines... I have it rented pending my departure.

I have also worked and lived in Austria... it was very easy for me... the people are warm and friendly and spectacular scenery and history... and low, low, low property taxes as consumption tax is very high... pace of life is much slower... time for family and friends... very community centered... NO ONE worries about Health Care or having a million dollars to retire yet they are healthy and well adjusted with low crime and clean...

I have family through marriage living in coastal California in several places and severe water issues and now fire... Can't remember the last time Western WA burned... or Austria? Building anything is a major undertaking... how about 2 years for a deck to get permission?

Can't say much about the other places... accept are you sure Austin is flat and barren? My Tahoe friends are avid skiers and love catching the shows... not what I would call nothing to do plus leaving California taxes greatly improved their bottom line.

To each their own and that is the best part...
My neighbor has had enough of Ca and just bought a beautiful house on the Nv side of Lake Tahoe in a place called Zephyr Cove.

As I type, it's about 10 degrees in Zephyr Cove. Here's what you can buy for $400k:
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/7...?fullpage=true

Here's what you can buy in Spring Valley for $400k:

Which house would you rather buy?

Neither. I thought I was a slob until I saw the second house. I didn’t realize people live like that.

I don't like either but if I had to I'd pick the Nv house. It's night time and cold temps don't scare me like Ca wooseys. What does scare me is Ca future with it's crazy politics and unfunded pensions

What's wrong with the white tile floor? I've lived in two places with tile like that, and it's easy to keep clean, unlike w/w carpeting.

'Easier than carpeting' is quite a low bar.

My mother had white tiled floors in our living room and dining room. Guess who got stuck spent every Saturday morning on hands and knees scrubbing that d*mn floor!

I've never had to scrub tile floors, and they stayed clean with just being mopped twice a week. But with carpeting, I had to vacuum every day. Maybe the amount of people makes a difference, because it was just me and my cat.
