Anybody read the San Diego section of the UT today? Seems there hasn't been a homicide in SD for 36 straight days. Of course, that could've changed by the time of this writing, and I'm not sure if it's including all surrounding areas or just SD proper. But still, it's a nice development.

It could last until the end of this year, and maybe even all the way through 2008. You never know, this is San Diego. People have been pretty mellow lately for the most part. It seems like things are returning to the way they were in the late 90's, only without the meth epidemic so it's even better this time around.

However, looking at this pattern:

42: Homicides so far in 2007
68: In 2006
51: In 2005
62: In 2004
65: In 2003
47: In 2002

It's hard to draw any conclusions since it's an incosistent pattern, a lot of ups and downs. Looks like 2006 was the peak of this decade so far (2000 and 2001 had roughly about 55 per year).

48th and Orange... so scary over there! I used to live near Euclid and Orange years ago and the place was just packed with crooks.
