hi guys,

i'm a homeowner looking to relocate to southern CA, and i had my eye on Vista or somewhere similar around northern San Diego. I really like the idea of purchasing a piece of land and then contracting a builder to construct a custom home.

Any recommendations for home builders in the Vista or San Diego area? I didn't find much through a google search. Most of them had custom homes for purchase but not a lot of info regarding building a home on land you already own. specifically, it would be great if I could find a builder with a website to view sample floorplans, etc.

thanks!

If you are serious, I would recommend hiring and architect to help you through the process and most have many plans in the house so to speak. He/she could oversee your construction contract and help you keep your hidden costs down as well as steer you towards reputable contractors. It is a myth that architects are too expensive and have saved homeowners their wage plus some over and over. Best of luck in your adventure and I am glad someone is still building customs, lol.

kmfdm~

You're first step is to acquire a property. THEN, acquire an architect. They should be able to create a concept that works for you, works for your budget & finally, works to best advantage on the property topography.

Since you want land in Vista, do you want a mountain view, or ocean view? (Vista HAS both.)

Do you want to have equestrian land?

Flat, or slope?

1 acre? 5 acres? More? Less?

And finally, your budget.

Vista has some AWESOME areas. It also has some areas that are in need of updating.

Since you're going to likely visit Vista, here's some places to eat at~

Pepper Tree Frosty

Flying Pig BBQ

Thai Thai

Chin's

Next thing is, you're likely going to want quiet Summer nights. This means you probably don't want to be anywhere near the Moonlight Amphitheater. It CAN get noisy. (But, they put on very good shows.) This year was quiet, due to 'rona.

Anyway, answer some of the above, and maybe we can steer you towards your goal.
