I posted this to Reddit as well. Seems very controversial to me. The thought behind it is charitable, but I wonder if this causes even fewer people to want to rent their home.

Every landlord I know here in CA is getting out. After the new law last year that caps rent increases, and reduces security deposits to no more than 1 months' rent. Not to mention the eviction moratoriums.

When the govt hates you and is against you, it's time to move on.

I had a tenant with a dog . Took multiple flooding with nature’s mirical enzymes and other solutions. 4 days with ozone generator. Got 90 percent of the smell of sh** and pee from the dog. They were there two months.
Cost a lot of money and time.
Funny how the landlord winds up the bad guy.

Yep, the thing that's funny is all those properties that used to be rentals, are going to lay fallow or sold. So, the idea of "more available properties for rent, to help quell demand" is out the window. There will be less properties on the rental market, thus raising rent prices for the others, LOL. Wow, this State is represented by the stoopid!

Pro-SB10 Chris Ward, good luck with that, not that you said you had high hopes.

I’m in Georgia.
I’d say landlord rights are on par with tenants. When I was in California tenants had a lot of power and leverage.
Eviction in California was a long hard process. Eviction here takes about 30 days and the people that work the court don’t give you the evil eye.

Say hello to higher damage deposits or higher rents or both!

Or landlords just selling.
