Hi all,

One of my friends is interested in renting a room with us. She works in downtown and was wondering if there is traffic on the 15 S and 163 S going from Scripps Ranch to downtown in the morning around 7 AM? If so, how bad is the traffic?

Thanks!

There is always traffic but at 7 a.m. for sure It will take 15 minutes just to get onto the 15 from Scripps Poway Pkwy. Even though it's 2 lanes to enter freeway everybody thinks they don't have to wait and cuts in.
You might want to think about taking Mira Mesa to the 15.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, we take Mira Mesa Blvd. to get on the 15. How about once we get on the freeways?

You should be okay once you get on the 15. A little slowing around Miramar but nothing too bad. There is also an express bus that you can get in Sabre Springs (at the park and ride) also that goes downtown and of course there is always the carpool

Default No, There is no traffic on the 15 S and 163 S at 7 AM

Generally, no. In fact, you're going against traffic. There can be some slowing around the 15-163 split, and on the 163 going through Balboa Park (but you probably knew that already). And coming back, there is quite often slowing on the I-15 north around Miramar Way. An annoyance, but rarely a serious jam.

You can check average traffic conditions on Google Maps (Google Maps). Zoom into the area of interest, then click on the Traffic button, and in the box that pops up, you can select the day & time for which you'd like to see the average traffic.

It varies. I tow a boat that way going to s bay some mornings and most days it's ok while you'll get a good number of days where it's a mess. Usually it's a minor fender bender and the looky-loos.
