How is the Tech Job market in San Diego? better than LA?

Depends on what you do. San Diego is better for R&D, especially wireless / aerospace / military engineering. For IT / Corporate stuff, and media-related (i.e. web), LA is much better.

Qualcomm is still advertising for lots of positions but the pickings can be a lot thinner at most of the other firms. Defense contractors (of which there are several here) also seem to have recession proof businesses though in general I would say there are more job opening in LA then in San Diego just because metro San Diego only has around 2 million people while metro LA has around 16 million.

The traditional trade off is you make slightly more in LA (10%-15%) but you have a much better quality of life in San Diego. Some people like the extra money and some people prefer the better quality of life. It's a personal choice.
