I could get a nice big house on a cul-de-sac in east Carlsbad, or a house on acreage with access to horse trails in Twin Oaks, but my children would have to go to San Marcos schools. Or I could get a smaller, not-so-nice house in Carlsbad and send my children to Carlsbad High. Or I could buy a 2-bedroom condo in Carmel Valley, my teenage son and my daughter would have to share the bedroom, but I'd be comforted by the thought that they go to the best high school in San Diego (Torrey Pines High).

Choices, choices ....
I needed a good laugh! Love it~

You should probably start a new thread on that topic so that more people will see it. RBV is our high school, but I don't know much about it because my daughter is elementary aged. Have you looked at greatschools to see reviews?

I would start new thread. South Vista has some pretty good schools IMHO. I tend to categorize San Diego schools into different tiers- probably about 5.

Tier 1: Scripps Ranch, Torrey Pines, Canyon Crest
Tier 2: Bonita Vista, Carlsbad, San Marcos
Tier 3: RBV, San Pasqual, Valley Center
Tier 4: Escondido, Oceanside, Fallbrook
Tier 5: Orange Glen

Not the "best", but there are valedictorians & success stories at every school- rich or poor- reputable/not. RBV has an International Baccalaureate program, which may be of interest to you/your child. Is there something they are specifically interested in?

Hope this helps!

I am thinking the opposite of negative? Because everyone knows, if you have the most negative school in the world, then that must be bad.

Funny. At first I thought the OP was being sarcastic or something. But indeed it really looks like it's the "most positive school in the world". LOL.

Nice! Didnt know there was a measurement for intangibles at schools.

"There's kind of a negativity that has set in, and I decided to start shining the light on positive things that are happening," he said by phone about creating the award.

I am gonna go hug my Care Bear now...
