There is a Target on Sports Arena Blvd across from the Sports Arena and Chick-Fil-A. And there is another Target at the corner of Balboa and Genessee in Clairemont. Both are about 3 miles from the center of PB.

There's a good bicycle store near where Garnet/Balboa crosses I-5. Might be a bit expensive for you if you're looking for Wal-Mart quality. They sell serious bikes.

There is a Wal-Mart on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, just east of I-805.

There is Performance Cycle Store on Midway Ave in Point Loma (near Sports Arena), and another on Convoy St in Kearny Mesa, a few blocks south of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

There is Bicycle Warehouse (large bike store) on a tiny street which intersects Balboa Ave around one block east of Morena Blvd / I-5.

And if you want to buy a used bike in San Diego, Craigslist is a good source.

Don't buy a bike from Walmart, Target, Costco.
Performance, Bicyc. Warehouse, or any LBS are excellent, affordable choices.
Trust me.

A new bike in PB stands a much bigger chance of getting ganked. Good luck taking back a missing bike.
