I might move to San Diego for a new job, but was wondering what areas are good, safe, especially for young single female? I'd like to spend no more than 1200 in rent... Any recommendations? Also, anyone have advice for a newbie to the area?

Thanks so much!

What area of SD will you be working in? That will play a factor in where you live.

San Diego is considered to be one of the safest cities in the U.S., so even what is considered the worst ghettos by S.D. standards are still not that bad. But to be on the safe side, I would recommend Clairemont. It is in a good centralized location (only 5 minutes to Pacific Beach and about 10 to Downtown S.D.), it is a safe suburban style community, and it is reasonably priced. Mission Valley area is good too, but might be more expensive. You may also want to check North Park.
