My husband and I will be moving from CT to CA in March. Currently we have health insurance through his job, but when we leave we wont. We dont have jobs lined up as of yet for when we get to San Diego, so there will be a gap of time with no health insurance. We are in our 20's and healthy so the odds of something happening in the few months of being with out are slim BUT there is always that chance. I really dont know much about insurance. And there is soooo much out there on the internet that it is overwhelming. I was wondering if there was reasonably priced insurance more for things like emergencies. Not so much for regular dr visits etc

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago and found temporary health insurance through ehealthinsurance.com. They gave me a few options and I can't remember which health insuance company I went with, but I think I paid around $70 a month and the deductible was around $1,000. It covered emergencies, 2 doctors office visits, and prescriptions (not sure of co-pay).

Your current health insurance can't be extended thru COBRA for 90 days? Of course, you would have to pay for it, but at least you would have insurance. I thought just about every employer had that option these days.

Hmmm, even if we were the ones leaving? I also thought that it wouldnt cover us out of the state of CT. I could be wrong.
