Personally I am of the opinion that at the High School level as long as it is a good school, with decent academics, teacher, administration etc and no safety issues etc, it is a lot about what the student wants to make of it, with our guidance, of course, but it's more about their drive and determination, so maybe we shouldn't stress so much over two really good schools , although I completely understand. You know your children better than anybody else, what their personalities are like, their interests etc. Westview runs on a quarter system vs Poway which runs on a traditional semester system. You mention that your children will be part of the San Diego Youth Symphony. Will they also be in High School Orchestra? If so, the quarter system would allow them to get all the credits they need without having to take summer school. Westview has a much larger Asian population than Poway, which is largely Caucasian. I am not sure if any of these details are relevant to your particular case, I just thought I would point them out.

Yes, they'll also participate in the high school orchestra. You pointed out something that I didn't know about, i.e., how the quarter vs. semester system could impact their participation in the orchestra. That's good to know, and I appreciate it.

Thanks for the confirmation of my own assessment of the locations east and west of 15. I know the area you're talking about, as we found it lovely and beautiful driving up there.

As far as I know Del Norte is the High School for Santaluz. Mount Carmel High still has Santaluz Juniors and Seniors this year because it is Del Norte's first year and it does not have those grades yet, but will next year.
