Humboldt County cities restrict military
Now Arcata is at it again, with a law blocking the military from recruiting anybody in town under the age of 18. And this time, the law has the backing not of a few City Council activists, but of thousands of voters who went to the polls in November.

Why would you think who is president would change people's attitude?

I didn't think it got any more hardcore than berkeley. To outright ban the military from recruiting certain people (its voluntary for the idiots who say people are being forced) is really retarded.

Obviously the rest of the country is going to be outraged when they hear of this.

This will be overturned by the courts faster than you can read that article LOL.

So you're suggesting that actively recruiting children under the legal age SHOULD be allowed? How 'bout actively recruiting underage pole dancers? I doubt we'd be hearing from you then, sailordave.

I think the people of Arcata can do whatever the h**l they want as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone's rights to enlist if they decide to do so.

High School Students... generally under age 18 are actively recruited by many... to limit one branch of government service seems very targeted...

There you go again, posting negative stuff about California. Isn't there enough problems for you to deal with in Louisiana? I certainly would think so since it receives huge amounts of federal $ [even before Hurricane Katrina], has considerable poverty\ unwed mothers\ obesity\ poor schools\ long history of racism, etc.

Arcata is a university town & ground zero for the Green party. Just because they don't fit your idea of patriotism you attack them. Frankly, I think many would question your patriotism as you daily attack President Obama in your nightly rants in the "Politics" section. Can't get enough action so you post your usual hate threads on the California forum.

There has been a tradition of pacifism & rejection of brainless wars like Bush imposed on our nation. Why aren't you upset by all the waste & loss of life Republicans are responsible for over the past 8 years? The people of Arcata are furious as is most of California that an American president could create so much shame on our nation.

You really are a caricature of a Southern
