Salesforce.com signs huge S.F. office lease (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/01/06/BU9K1MM1P3.DTL - broken link)

Great news. I follow Salesforce.com closely and it is a great company with a great future. Good to see it choosing the City, where it was founded, as the base for future expansion.

They also work closely with the folks at Seesmic, and they're also based in San Francisco.

$340 Million is incredible. 50 Fremont is a traditional office tower too which is very un-techy but I really like that they are doing that. So is that going to be their HQ?

Anyway, fyi 50 Fremont is the building we all drive by when we exit the Bay Bridge at Fremont St and drive towards Market. Its located right at the corner of Mission and Fremont across from that Noah's Bagels in the Heald building, across from the Transbay Terminal.

It looks like it is going to be their HQ. Funny thing is, I used to work in 50 Fremont. Gorgeous views of the bay and the city from the higher floors

Its always been one of my favorite buildings in SF. I know that Deloitte is located there as well.

Anyway, there is a shorter but obvious copy cat 50 Fremont in Sao Paulo that I would drive by all the time and it always reminded me of SF. LOL.

More techies...if you don't work for companies like this, have fun when your apartment rent goes up 25% and your boss laughs you out the door when you ask for your first raise in 5 years.

World's most profitable and valuable cos. (which dwarf CRM) tend to have modest, awfully cheap, more tax and pkg-efficient suburban office campuses....think AAPL, GOOG, ORCL, MSFT, etc

Smartest, most productive engineers tend to want highest pay and stock prices that perform well (as lots of big pay is in stock, not cash)...not overpriced offices in some distant, costly commie town like SF (or NYC or Seatt)

And most top engineers and tech execs prefer to reside in PaloAlto region (Ath, Woodside esp) in a spacious, latest-tech, new suburban house on a big lot in a nearby leafy suburb, so SF is a distant exurban wasteland/Siberia for nonproductive tech cos. and semiretired yuppies, perhaps interesting for clueless tourists and others who aren't interested in max efficiency/productivity....but isn't that the role Paris or NYC or London or LV or FL already serve, adult Disneylands w/limited productivity???

LOL..Salesforce is not just a CRM company, but a pioneer in cloud computing. They are also a platform provider, where you can build and write enterprise apps on a cloud platform. If you actually worked in high tech companies, you would have known that the salesforce platform has been extended to write HR apps, Finance apps and social media apps for the enterprise. Currently, Salesforce stocks are trading at a >4000 P/E multiple signalling the market is expecting strong revenue growth..

Oh, yeah, another thing, Larry Ellison lives in SF.

And the dozens of shuttles runs every big tech company does all day every day taking workers from where they obviously want to live (SF) down to where the jobs are (Silicon Valley) gives lie to your theory.
