Higher fines, 24 new parking cops, a 1000+ new parking meters and no free parking on Sunday in most of the city to raise more money. This will probably gouge the tourists and make people outside the city to think twice about going into SF for shopping and dining.

I don't think it will have any effect for tourists or people living outside the city. It will be more frustrating for the people living on these streets. I would much rather the city increase parking fines etc vs increasing property taxes or sales tax. I think most tourists stick to parking garages anyways.

I doubt it will make any difference for tourists. As far as those who live in the area but not in the city, they'll either play by the rules or will just take BART. After all, don't want a ticket, just don't break the rules. It's an avoidable "tax."

There are very few places in America that have more tourists than San Francisco so it isn't nchasing business away. On the other hand I always figured there would be one day a year that I would slip and the hook would get me. So in that way I always looked upon it as a tax.
