Civic Center is getting worse for sure. More young kids robbing and hanging around at all hours of the day.

The financial district has a lot of homeless, but during the day I feel it's very rare to be a victim of crime, just too many people walking around.

2011 was the worst year for the number of homeless people using our streets like bathrooms

For exercise, sometimes I will walk down Market Street in the evening from my office in the FD to Van Ness to catch the bus to go home. It's amazing the various "zones" through which one passes during that couple of miles or so. But, yea, the homeless are all over the place in the FD.

The last time I was in San Francisco was during Gavin Newsom's mayoralty, and I was surprised to see that there were no homeless downtown! Where did they all go? Previous to that, when I was there during Willie Brown, I remember being panhandled several times/block around downtown. Does anyone know how Newsom solved the problem? At that time, I'd see them around 5 pm, apparently emerging from somewhere (had day shelters been set up??), and starting to move around, but they were nowhere to be seen during the day. But it sounds from the posts here, like the problem's become unsolved. Go figure.

I've lived in SF from 1985 to 2006. It's been like that for years. In fact it was worse in the 90' s. IMO
