Well, its not a huge security gate that separates my condo complex from the neighbors, that's for damn sure.

Montclair why waste your time arguing with the same two people here to stir up things for attention? Ignore them.

I don't know what this has to do with this thread or your lack of value on human life, but I have no problem walking down my street outside the gates. As I walk outside the gates, I pass by a small dog park, followed by a luxury apartment complex, across from a glass office park, followed by luxury town homes and finally HWY 101 lol. I thought I'd set the record straight since you continue to bring this up. Anyways, I find it a bit funny you critizize people for stating public facts and figures about Oakland, yet you have no problem telling people about whether or not they can walk their pets on their street.

Once again, I can only stomach you a few words at a time so I stopped reading after this, but I did catch the pictures of that prison-looking complex. To each his own, who am I to judge.

Yeah, it's about your claim that 80% of murders happen to criminals, which is worth the innocent lives of the remaining 20%. You said if there were 500-1000 murders in Oakland, you'd welcome it because 800 out of the 1000 would be criminals, so 200 innocent lives are just a small price to pay. You double downed on that statement in fact.

Yes and now I am emphatically acknowledging and reaffirming that now for the third time, just so you can pretend to be shocked.

Anything else?

You continue to operate under the delusion that your going to back me into a corner. LOL

To get back on topic, one of the things not mentioned is that the building of new academies totally depends on whether all three incoming councilmen agree on spending the little surpluse Oakland has towards that goal, nothing has been finalized.

Quote:
Reid and Schaaf would like to start a second police academy in June, a move that would overturn a prior council vote that mandated waiting until the state decided on possibly voiding redevelopment deals. For Oakland and other cities, this could result in having to pay millions of dollars to the state.
Additionally Oakland has a huge negotiation coming up with the cities workers unions that could result in the budget not having the funds to do so.

In fact, one of the ideas being kicked around is to contract the Alameda's Sheriff's department to pick up some slack in Oakland.

The real topic is how the article in the first post of this thread is yet another example of the media portraying crime as the issue that defines Oakland.

I dont believe for one minute that these articles or the comments in this thread or any other thread brought up by 'concerned outsiders' are genuinely meant to discuss the issue of crime in Oakland. Not one bit. No they are meant to provoke fear and incite rhetorical back and forth spats.

Nothing new to see here folks, just more of the same.
