So, I was planning a trip to San Francisco September 25-29 and the hotels I like are either sold out or have rates starting at over $1300 / night. What is going on there that week?

The Folsom Street Fair. Kinky leather-lovers from all over the country descend on the city that weekend.

It's probably Salesforce's Dreamforce conference. If not that I'm 90% sure it's some other conference.

It is dreamforce. You miggt want to book another week if you can. Everything will be extra expensive and most restaurants downtown will be booked up.

September and October are huge convention season. Basically when summer ends and people focus back on work, companies like to head out to San Francisco for these massive annual meetings. It's also the nicest and warmest time of the year in fall, which is another draw compared to Summer. Besides conventions and the Folsom Street Fair, they're very well maybe other major events, street fairs, music festivals, sporting events, Etc going on that weekend. That time of year, I remember all the bridges and Roads getting into the city would be jam packed because there might be four or five major things going on at once.

Dreamforce is such a giant conference, that week is easily 3-4X more than any other week during conference season. The event draws 150k+ official attendees and other companies in related spaces also host their own mini conferences to cater to the attendees. In recent years I haven't bothered to go to dreamfkrce because 4-5 of my vendors have their own conferences adjacent to dreamforce.

Thanks for the info. I've never heard of that conference. Figured this far ahead I'd score a decent deal but apparently not.

Most weeks you might, yes. Are you able to do another week? Or stay in another city in the region?
