A lot of interesting cities on that list. The title reads as a negative but in all actuality, it's a pretty positive list to be on. Rock on, San Juan, PR.

yeah wear it with pride, SF! You earned it. . .

What I noticed is that all those cities on the list are considered "liberal" cities which is funny since liberals are self righteous about their inclusiveness and "we're all winners!" attitude. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Perhaps, but I certainly see plenty of "conservative" cities on there (Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, Savanah, Charleston). I think it has more to do with money and these cities being well-off and/or expensive places than anything else. Any correlation to "liberal" or "conservative" is probably less causal than you probably think.

SF is not alone in this. Most of bay area has this attitude... They feel that they are richer and better than everyone else and yet ironically enough live housing conditions that would be considered slum like by American standards.

There is nothing hypocritical about liberal cities supporting local businesses. In fact, it is entirely consistent with our values and something to be proud of.

Shacks in great zip codes. It is a paradox.

^ this. Exactly why I chose not to invest my $1.3m on a shack worth only $50-70k in any other part of the country

Charleston, SC is the same way yet it is vey conservative. Not sure how liberal equals snobby as the "upper class" southern and new england cities practically invented snobby. They are the ones with the debutante culture and society pages.
