Hi All,

My wife and I are currently renting close to the Walnut Creek BART station (& have done so for a few years), rent is going up 13% each year & we are ready to buy something, prices in WC seem a little crazy for what you get so we have been looking along the WC / Concord border and found a townhome between Clayton Rd & Turtle Creek Rd, close to Treat Blvd.

The home looks nice & offers much better value for $ in terms of amenities, however at the risk of sounding like a total snob, the area just outside the development is a little "low rent" - lots of fast food joints & discount stores, is a just generally a little more run down looking than WC.

I don't know anyone who lives is that area & am find it hard to figure out in terms of:

Is this a safe place to live?

Are there any community problems / issues?

Is this an area that is on the decline or not?

What is traffic like getting to BART like on weekdays?

Just hoping that someone here & who is familiar with the area might be able to offer some helpful insight / has any thoughts / comments etc...

Yeah the area isn't as upscale or trendy as WC but it's plenty safe. Very solidly middle class imo and a good deal. The schools aren't top notch or anything, probably fairly average to mediocre I would imagine.

I think that area is pretty good and I would consider buying there. Clayton Rd has a lot of apartment complexes on it, some not that nice but the single family home neighborhoods are all pretty nice in that area imo.

I don't think it should take you more than 15 or so minutes to get to Concord BART from that area.
