I am from the East Coast and have never seen the Pacific Ocean and would like to swim in there. I am looking for a beach near San Francisco but I don't want to swim in the bay.

Any suggestions? I was suggested Linda Mar Beach.

Also since I am young what are some cool bars I should check out? I am straight btw lol I know SF has a huge gay scene.

A: swimming in the Pacific ocean is pretty cold. Beaches within 60 miles of SF are frosty, and July is typically not very sunny, so it is even more terrible for swimming. You can try Santa Cruz, but don't think you'll be laying out on the beach checking out the blond California girls. More like surfing in a wetsuit in 65 degree water.

B: there may possibly be more gay people than average in SF. Let's say optimistically gay people are 10% of the population. You can do the math on your odds of the bar being one that targets gay people only.

Re: Linda Mar Beach
That area is particularly cold and foggy that part of year. The beach is pretty, but the water is icy. Give up on your California swimming dreams unless you want to freeze.

Never though I would say this but it sounds like from what you are telling me the East Coast beaches are better for swimming compared to the West Coast.

In terms of scenery I am guessing Bodega Bay is the best?

I was suggested going to the bar on the roof of the Marriott for a drink and nice view of the city.

Cabo. Or Hawaii. San Diego in a pinch, but in July it'll be overcast there too.

Re: nightlife, most of the gay bars are in a fairly compact area of the Castro. There are a couple of others in SOMA, and 1 each in the Haight, the Tenderloin, and Polk Street. And a lesbian place in Bernal Heights. But there's really no such thing as a 100% gay bar these days anyway. On any given weekend night in the Castro you're just as likely to see herds of "wooo!" girls as gay men, at least at certain places.

Lol I was asking about bars that weren't gay bars bro...July usually is overcast in SF? Why do people live in this part of California? lol Can't swim, cold water, pollution, and those smelly seals on Pier 39.

The average high temps in July in San Francisco are in the mid 60's and it can be cloudy/foggy often. Summers here are generally late August and September, but even then you're talking highs in the 70's.

And unless you're in the Castro district, you probably won't notice the gay population any more than you would in any other city.

Southern CA is the only place you can swim in CA without a wetsuit.

I like music, bars, adventure, hands on things, but not really museums or arts.

I have one day in San Fran...No real flexibility because this is just a one whole day stop in a 27 day road trip. I am actually coming from Denver....Zion...Grand Canyon....Vegas...Death Valley....Yosemite.
