I've never heard before that something is "not a matter of debate". That's a strange, domineering way to close off discussion. Most people would disagree with you.

SF is more diverse than Dallas, unless your definition of diversity hinges on the presence of a large number of black people. LA is also less diverse, unless your definition of diversity hinges on the presence of a large number of Latinos. I would say that San Jose is less diverse, unless your definition of diversity hinges on the presence of a large number of Asians. Consistent with your definitions, Detroit would be extremely diverse even though there is an overwhelming black majority. All of these specific race centric definitions of diversity would be strange and idiosyncratic. All major cities (1st and 2nd tier) in the USA are diverse today (perhaps with the exception of Detroit), and all have different proportions of racial diversity across a variety of races. SF is comparably diverse compared to all major MSAs with the exception of the extremes of the gamut (Detroit and Houston), and much more diverse compared to most cities that are 3rd tier or less.
