What I don't understand, is how the city can tell a business that they must give away some of it's inventory, without being compensated. I'm I reading that right? Without being subsidized by the city?

That doesn't seem right to me.

What if they came up with a law that restaurant owners must give a percentage of their food away to low income people?

If I was one of the dispensaries, I'd fight this, if I'm reading it correctly. Forced philanthropy? I don't think so.

Well, one dispensary owner -- who already donates 1% of his inventory -- said that he welcomes the move. So there's that.

Being in the "healthcare" business, and one that operates in a legal grey area and requires the continued goodwill of other citizens and local governments to survive, those dispensaries have to be very careful not to come off sounding greedy.

Now, if CA legalizes it and the "medical" MJ industry dies, that would be another matter altogether.
