"As the many YIMBY twitter handles say: “this area for all”, a universalist mentality of ending exclusivity in housing."

Robert Stark thinks YIMBYism is linked with "wokeness." LOL

YIMBY is about housing... Young people of all political persuasions understand that the older generation has screwed us out of home-ownership by literally making new housing illegal.

Or, you might wonder if the greed and avarice of ALL recent generations has cumulatively boomeranged … instead of “boomered” you.

Posts like yours always make me hear echos of my kids when they were little tykes: “Daddy, Frankie hit me! … Daddy, Sarah called me a (insert dirty name) …” Daddy, Ralphie stole my Game Boy and won’t give it back …” … etc etc etc

Try attending a city council meeting literally anywhere in the bay sometime, Tule. It's not 20-somethings that are getting up on the mic and yelling about how apartments are "destroying the neighborhood."

Try understanding human nature and the dynamic of capitalism … then reflect on how any specific “generation” can vary the nature and process. Ridiculous blame game. The problem isn’t any one generation different than another. It’s cumulative effect of forces.

"Capitalism" (the market) would produce housing if it was allowed to. Government (the people) prohibits housing.

The SF Bay Area was not designed with the future in my mind. Single story homes, suburban living and freeways created sprawl spanning into the Central Valley. It’s an inefficient use of land and bad for the environment. With increasing population pressure, the current system is unsustainable.

Yes, capitalism would … and you completely miss the meaning of that coupled with human nature. We will thoughtlessly grow in perpetuity until we choke ourselves to death. And none of that has a damn thing to do with one generation or another.

Buildings don't make babies. Buildings shelter people who already exist.
