Hello y'all

I need your help. A month ago, I got a ticket for expired registration (totally forgot to do renew it) and I had updated insurance but I didn't have the updated card on me; so they hit me with that too.

I registered my car the very next day (after I got my ticket). Went to my insurance and got an extra updated card as proof of insurance.

Now today, after weeks of waiting to see if i can correct it. I viewed it and it said i have to pay over $1000+?

If I go and show my proof of insurance and newly registered car after the day i got the ticket. Will the amount go down?

Please note I'm 25 years old, this is my first ticket ever. I don't know what to do and I can't afford the $1000+ ticket.

Please help me, I'm worried.

Thanks,

TELL IT TO THE JUDGE

(and he/she may let you get away it)

For future reference, many insurers will have an App that you can use to show proof to an officer. The fines will not go down on their own, and I doubt that a judge would lower the registration ticket but it's worth a try. They will often "forgive" the insurance ticket if you show proof that you had it at the time you were pulled over. Many people forget, and it's a cash cow for them, with those big fines.

It's not just the fine... it's all the add ons for court and county fees too.

A friend was a traffic court judge for many years...

He did give breaks with a first minor lapse... sometimes cutting the cost in half...

He was a kind of throw yourself on the mercy of the court and promise to sin no more.

Zero chance for repeat offenders or anyone with attitude...

Worth a shot...

You should have had an appearance date, did you miss it? If not, appear in court on the day noted on the citation and bring your proof of insurance and registration with you, the fine may not go away completely but should be reduced significantly.

If you missed your court date, call the court and find out when they have a walk-in calendar and appear on that day, bring your proof with you and explain to the judge that it took you a month to get the money together to take care of the problem.
