No one said you're stupid, and it's clear you are having trouble reading.

Better question: what do you care about what I post?

great job keeping this thread going singlehandedly. really. any other gems you'd like to contribute other than Rockridge being a wealthy enclave that's not really part of Oakland, or would you like to address crime now?

...and if that's not baiting to ban me and close the thread, I don't know what is. Nice try but no cigar.

In order to answer this question, walk up College Ave on a Saturday night. Now I realize that someone down in Deep East is not going to have the same experience. But my point is, the whole place is not all Deep East.

And heck, even Deep East is beginning to gentrify (and honestly, I have some mixed feelings about that).

You can't get any more East Oakland than Foothill Square which is enjoying a renaissance...

This forum is dominated by east bay posters who (big surprise) tend to post at all hours of the day, while everyone else is working for a living. Plus the moderators are also Oakland residents. So there is not a lot of room for dissent. I suspect the Baltimore forum is different.

Truth be told, Oakland is only considered special because hipsters and transplants who could not hack it in SF got priced out of the mission. So now there is an increase in fusion food and rents and suddenly the city is apparently hip. LOL. Go downtown on a Saturday night, it looks like all the people from the mission in 2006 now hang out there. Big woop.

Hip or not... it's been good enough for 5 generations of my family to call home...

It's a small city in the big leagues... SF couldn't even keep it's thriving port open...

Stop and think we do many leaving SF settle in Oakland when the Bay Area is a large metropolitan area???

My childhood friend lives in Davenport up the coast from Santa Cruz and loves it... he pays a high price because to earn a living he commutes to Oakland...

Peace Out...

I think it's hilarious that someone from Santa Cruz is ragging on Oakland for it's hipster population.
