I have gotten unsedated colonoscopies in the past in my home state (PA) and cannot find a doctor so far that will do so in the bay area. Has anyone done this here? I don't want to fly all the way back for a simple procedure. Reason being, I have PTSD in regards to sedation. Wondering if anyone has any doctor recommendations. Thanks!

I had one without sedation in Reno. I had issues in the past with Versed, the Doc argued a bit but finally agreed to do it, they did give me a bit of benadryl which as far as I could tell did nothing.

Look at Bay Area Peninsula housing. It'll feel like an unsedated colonoscopy.

While I'm OK with Benadryl, insurance definitely wouldn't cover Reno. Thanks though.

Hard to imagine there's no doc in the entire Bay Area who would do it without sedation. Are you sure, OP? It's really not that big a deal.

As for your PTSD, please try a treatment called EMDR. You can do a Google search for it + your town/region.. It's a godsend, amazingly effective. This is for future reference.

Man, if you can do it without sedation you're tough enough to 'bob for bacon' !

I have not been able to find one at Kaiser and Marin General. There are ones that do virtual colonoscopies but they are not as good as a regular colonoscopy.
