So, all you guys who live in San Francisco should contact your representative on the Board of Supervisors. Apparently they are going to have a vote on funding the conversion of CalTrain to electric power. This should have been done 50 years ago, but there has been delay after delay. So you guys should call your representative and tell them that they should support funding this action.

I'm still against CalTrain employees being able to be in a union with power to negotiate salary and benefits under threat of a strike, but I do think we need to spend some money and improve this important part of the transportation infrastructure in the Bay Area.

Interestingly, I do not recall such rancor when Carter yielded to Regan, or, when Gore yielded to Bush 43.

Neither of those administrations had any sort of serious beef with the Bay Area / tech.

Heck, the one and only Presidential speech I attended was to see Reagan at De Anza College in '84. He gave many kudos to the Bay Area and tech, even though he knew there are many who hew to the Left here.

This is an incredibly disappointing decision.

I had a feeling this would happen, but I had hope that it might not. Maybe I thought someone in the administration might stand up for this project...

I realize it being attached to the CAHSR project is the cause for this, but it's still very disappointing regardless.
