All of this seems to be a false tempest to me. I am not voting on his motivation because how on earth would I know that? I can't hear his thoughts, and neither can anyone else here. As far as his actions, it doesn't matter if I agree or not; we have a right to free speech in this country. There is no law that says you have to stand for the National Anthem; it is a respectful tradition. He has the right to not participate in that tradition. And other people are free to say he is wrong, as they have free speech rights, too. So you all are free to argue back and forth about this. I will exercise my free speech by saying that your arguing accomplishes nothing. But if you enjoy it, go for it.

And no one claimed that he wasn't entitled to his free speech (not the point of the thread but a nice Straw Man, nonetheless). We will enjoy ourselves and speculate all we want. Thank you.

Maybe he just doesn't ****ing feel like standing for it. I'm embarssed for everyone that is pretending to be upset by this. None of us are obligated to stand for a silly song. This isn't North Korea.

I think you pretty much have it right: I think he may, indeed believe minorities do not get a fair shake, but h never bothered to do anything about it until it appeared his career might be on the line: now, he can come out, say what he wants, get attention and some sympathy. I am guessing he was raised to think he was the second coming and now he sees he isn't he can throw a fit and everyone listens to him. I call him a spoiled brat even if part of what he says he might real feel.

NFL is racist: give us some reason to believe this and back it up some how. I am not sure many would agree with you. Let's see, they mostly draft white guys, they don't give minorities playing time and they only pay black 20 mil instead of 30 mil to sign. Is that what you are saying?

relax, this is simply a question the Op asked and it based on our opinions only. It isn't scientific, isn't meant to be, just opens up an interesting debate. No one expects this to accomplish anything.

Yep, that's all it is. Some people should relax. Thank you for your comment.

That's interesting.....I'd argue people getting made over Kaep's "little protest" is also hypersensitivity. The same people that wave the flag and scream patriotism are the same ones angry over CK exercising his first amendment right.

Let the man protest and speak out.

I'm a little disappointed with the Santa Clara Police. To threaten to not protect fans and players at Levi's over one player's actions is simply childish. Imagine if because one person spoke out against the US military and then our Generals were like "Screw it, we're not protecting the US anymore." Yes, extreme analogy but you get the point.
