Moving to SF is a really good way. I'm guessing you want one for SF customers or you wish to appear like you are doing business in SF. Your cell carrier should be able to help you.

The 415 Area code was broken up into several different area codes about 15 years ago because they were running out of numbers. My area code was 415 in the '80s and now it's 510. Same number just a different area code. They could be running out of 415 cell numbers now too. I dunno.

The SF Bay Area has grown unbelievably in the past 20 years. What was unused pasture land 20 years ago is now aging cookie-cutter subdivisions. Lots of poorly built over-sized houses on tiny lots that started falling apart and looking like ghettos almost as soon as they were built.

Hood Answer:
If you sign up for MetroPCS(Wireless service) and give them a bogus address in SF or Marin County(which is okay cause they dont ever send you a bill) then you can get a 415 number. You can call anywhere in the US unlimited for a flat rate of about $50.

Lots of people in the hood use MetroPCS cause its so cheap and you can call anywhere.

If you live outside the 415 area code (San Francisco and Marin county), you can still get a phone number with the 415 area code, but the phone company will charge you through the nose to set this up and that's based on the distance from where you are to a phone company central office in the 415 area code.
