Oakland's nicer/good areas are A LOT better and nicer than Vallejo's. It's harder to escape the ghettoness of Vallejo within the city compared to Oakland imo.

And that also means you spend a lot more $$$ in order to do so. I'm not disagreeing with you or argueing, I'm just not a fan of Oakland

To live yeah. . The location is way better in addition to the actual neighborhoods being nicer and more vibrant. In addition to way more amenities. Overpriced sure but so is Vallejo when you compare it to similar communities outside coastal CA.

This might sound kinda snobbish, but I was really considering Sacramento, and I've come to the conclusion that if you don't live in Coast California, there's really no point to living in California.

Lol, it does. Sac isn't that bad and you're still close to family/friends. Now with kids I definitely would consider living there compared to how I felt about it before.

When someone who has never been to California, thinks of California, I would think they typically picture So.Cal type pictures such as the really nice & sunny beach in Orange County. If not, then more than likely they picture SF and the Golden Gate Bridge

But if someone wanted to live in a cheaper area, but still have "The City", But still be somewhat close to the coast, Sacramento would fill the bill

It's just the weather is too hot. I can deal with Concord and other inland Bay Area communities, but I went to Sac to check it out and it was oppressively hot.

It definitely has the heat factor, but for me, it's tolerable. Simply because I'm from Kentucky and the summers are scorching hot & humid.

The weather in Pleasant Hill where I'm at gets pretty darn hot too, but it's mild most of the time compared to Kentucky, so I'm happy

I've always found Sac to be intolerably hot. You're not the only one. And you found a good compromise, that offers cool weather along with low rents. Hopefully, you're staying safe.

Vallejo does have a lot of potential considering it's Location and Proximity to the other well known areas of the Bay Area.
