Maybe this is not helpful, and please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you need to take a deep breath - it is all going to be ok. I am blessed with free rent, but am living here on under $5K a year. My sibling makes half of what you will combined, lives in one of the nicest parts of the Bay Area, owns a house, and has two kids. My recommendation if you are really stressing out over this, while bringing in *more than half a million dollars a year* is that maybe you lower your standard of housing and settle on a large apartment instead of a SFH? I guess a few people have already said this, but I am unsure if this post is satire or not.

You use your list, I'll use mine (and the knowledge I have from living in San Francisco for years). And I'm focusing on high schools since that will truly be the determinant if someone is ready to enter college after graduating (one of the criteria on the US News ranking). Lowell is the only high school in San Francisco that places respectfully in the state. Also the US News list is much more comprehensive than a simple one-time test score. Not to mention, it doesn't generically list multiple schools with the same ranking (which is pretty much a joke). I think it's beyond hilarious that the list you use would give Galileo a 9 and Lowell a 10. Galileo isn't in the same stratosphere as Lowell.

Most people I know send their kids to Parochial High Schools (yes, they are more well off than most) because the San Francisco school system is such a joke!
