So many ignorant, hateful, jealous comments, wishing a huge earthquake and/or fire and/or mudslide and/or drought on us-it's hilarious.

I realize the Bay Area is another world from most of the rest of the country, the poster child for perceived coastal liberalism and elitism( even tho people here arent really like that) and the whipping boy of right wing pundits, but $117,000 is actually well below the median income for families with children in SF, which is actually $146,000($150K in San Mateo, $156K in Marin) according to the latest census data available.

We definitely need to ramp up housing development, but these 3 counties have been very wealthy for as long as data on the subject has been kept by the govt so the media and haters need to calm down.

That does seem high. Our median income is $167,000, but you have to make less than $70,000 to become eligible for assistance (Sammamish, WA).

We have a ton of cities in that income range but the federal govt determines the income component of their formula by metro area or metro division i.e. county data, not by individual cities and towns.

For King County, WA the amt that qualifies for aid for q family of 4 is $80,250 and under.

Does anyone know the amount earned threshold for an individual to receive aid in those counties?

In Marin, that's $82,200 for a single person. Here in King County, WA it's $56,200.
