I am from Montréal and I will be moving to San Francisco.
I am coming to SF to learn new swing moves...
I was in San diego and the classes were good but I learned that San Francisco is the mecca for swing and Lindy Hop.

I have a car and I would prefer to live in a very quiet location maximum an 1h 1/2 drive from San Francisco.

I love nature and remote villages.

Where should I look for ? Does it exist within that distance?
If not what would be my best alternative...

Your knowledge will be greatly appreciated

La Honda is a tiny, quaint, woodsy village about an hour from San Francisco. You could also consider the little towns between Felton and Boulder Creek in Santa Cruz County.

Depends on what you need. For something very very basic, around $1000 a month. For something with better amenities $1700 and up.

I am totally clueless about the rent in and around San Francisco.
I know that in San Diego, the minimum that someone could pay for rent was about 600$ for a room, 800$ for a studio, 1400$ and for a house.

Lets say in La Honda, what could I expect for a room, a studio or a house?

I used to live for a few months in a camper in San Diego. It was more or less safe depending of the campground. ( Here in Québec, it is really safe to use campground but I found that in San Diego, there was a lot of problems with crystal meth and domestic violence.)

Do you think that it would be a safe alternative? That would give me the time to look around.

Thank you for your insight..

Maybe look into Walnut Creek, San Ramon, parts of Palo Alto and parts of Los Altos.

Well, there are hardly any rental properties in La Honda or Woodside. If there are any, they're either going to be extravagant estates or bumpkin cottages. I assumed that was the character you were going for.

If you don't mind crossing a bridge, you could also look into parts of Marin County like Nicasio, or Healdsburg in the Santa Rosa area.

Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz mountains is an adorable little town, surrounded by trees and nature. Here's a list of ALL the rentals (not including rooms/shares) in BC right now - they range from $850 to nearly $4000/mo. classifieds - craigslist

You stole my ideas! I would definitely pick somewhere rural on the peninsula or just south. It's a great atmosphere.
