I would take this to mean that the high tech bubble is about to burst, again. Did you see Wolf Blitzer bragging about his tweets? Who cares?

Social Networking provides real opportunities for revenue. Is there any other way I can educate you about the industry?

Big deal! Who needs Twitter? How did you get by before Twitter? It's mostly a bunch of mindless chatter that's of no importance.

Twitter really does nothing unique. That's the problem with this kind of "valuation." Other than selling rss feeds to mass media companies or trying to charge for "instant search" they really don't have too many marketable services. The reality is that the quality of their service will be dependant on the quality fo the actual content, which is not something I'd bet a hundred dollars on much less a billion. Much of the interesting stuff around Twitter is a result of the API.

Twitter is basically a web-based version of 30 year old technology. Meh.

I hope they never go IPO or get sold anywhere near that valuation. Can you imagine the # of millionaires that will make? And many of them will want to buy a new home... driving me out of the market. No thanks.
