Perusing listings on craigslist and I'm seeing a lot of lisitings for places in the Presidio. Does anybody know anything about living there? Is it all managed by one entity? I made the mistake of not really spending any time there when I visited over the summer (I live in the L.A. area). What are the advantages and drawbacks to getting a place in the Presidio? Thanks!

I looked into it a few years ago when I was living in San Francisco rents were high, if you didn't work on the Presidio, started at $1,700 for a two bedroom near Baker Beach. The Houses near the Golden Gate are $4,900 try Presidio.gov then hit leasing

If I were to move there, I'd likely start with a roommate rather than get my own place through that site. But since it seems like a unique/different deal than most any other neighboorhood, I suppose I'm just checking to see if there is a "catch" to living there. Thanks for the feedback.

First catch is that if the Park Service decides to tear the places down you are gone. Second is the preference given to employees who work on the Presidio. When I asked they got a 30% break, by now there may be an exclusion of those who don't.
