Hey,

Do any of you know how reliable the buses through downtown San Jose are? Do they actually run on the schedules and intervals posted on the VTA website? Specifically, I'd like to know about the 64 and the 22, but generally speaking is OK.

Thanks!

This info is a few years old, but I used to take Bus 22 to downtown when I lived in San Jose and found it to be pretty reliable (along with the 522, the express bus version of 22 during rush hour). That's a major line that runs 24 hours, so you're usually good to go.

That said, I used to have all kinds of problems with the smaller line (73, if it matters) that connected me from my apartment to 22 to get to work. It would often be really late or just not show up, causing me to miss my 22 bus and be late to work!

VTA 64 and 22 (and 522) all run as near on time as any line in town. Of course, one is called "Hotel 22" at all hours of the morning for a reason - avoid the rear seats at these times.

The 22 is the VTA's workhorse line. It sometimes gets held up in traffic on El Camino Real, which can wind up testing the line's capacity, but the buses run so frequently that it's usually not a problem.
