Considering Santa Clara County has almost 12% unemployment, I think that's horrible. Renters here never seem to catch a break, whether the economy is up or down.

You either get raped by housing speculation or landlords in SJ. Must suck. My poor bro-in-law is trying to find a decent place to rent out there right now, with little success. I remember looking for a nice 2 bedroom apartment to rent out there 10-11 years ago (spent most of my life in SJ), rents were around $1200. He's having a hard time finding a nice 1 bedroom in a decent area for that much. Unreal.
