We’re #1! San Jose beats New York! MOST EXPENSIVE! | Burbed.com

Confirms what I've experienced: the rents here are uniformly outrageous. It doesn't matter if you're willing to commute, you're still going to pay a lot of money. That's the price of living in a center of innovation and one of the world's most dynamic economies, with great weather and a major city just an hour away..

Depends on how they define the "San Jose metro area".

Imagine how congested it would be if rents were lower.

Probably less, because there wouldn't be so many damn cars going so damn far over all the damn freeways all the time.

Considering Santa Clara County has almost 12% unemployment, I think that's horrible. Renters here never seem to catch a break, whether the economy is up or down.

You either get raped by housing speculation or landlords in SJ. Must suck. My poor bro-in-law is trying to find a decent place to rent out there right now, with little success. I remember looking for a nice 2 bedroom apartment to rent out there 10-11 years ago (spent most of my life in SJ), rents were around $1200. He's having a hard time finding a nice 1 bedroom in a decent area for that much. Unreal.
