Am relocating to the San Jose area,(would actually be working at airport won,t be a mon-fri commute as am a pilot). Looking for a nice place, with good schools to raise a family. Prefer to bewithinan hour commute. Looking to spend around 750,000. Was thinking Livermore, maybe even Monterrey maybe? Just don,t really know the area that well. Heard Folsom is nice, but seems quite far.

Thanks for your input!

My input is that you look at all the posts from the last 3 months that are obviously the same request as yours (there are at least 20). Then, if you have any questions, ask for specific things.

Hi, how much sq footage and bedrooms do you need? Folsom is too far so don't get too excited about the home prices there. Will you only be driving to SJC? Also where are you relocating from and what kind of weather do you like? Big difference in weather between Livermore and Monterey. What kind of Falcon? I'm an ATC at OAK.

Falcon2000. Family of 5 so min of 2000sq ft. As for weather, not too concerned with that, more so about the kids and school systems. Thanks!

Folsom is too far. Try Castro Valley, good schools and generally a safe neighborhood and 45-60 minutes to SJC. Dublin might work also.

Thanks, I,ll look into it. What is the general consensus on living in the Monterey, pacific grove area? Any drawbacks other than real estate costs?

Castro valley I like, the new home sub I think would be easier for the integration being new to the area, also figure there will be lots of kids. How hot does it get there in summer?

Dublin looks even better! Not much for yards, but less for me to cut. Surprisingly, not many pools though. I expected more

What do you pay for electricity at your current location? You may be in for quite a shock when you move here. If all you have to pay for is filtration, and you have a variable speed pool pump, the cost for electricity won't be that bad. But if you have solar heating, and have to run a 1-1/2 hp pump (or your variable speed pump on high speed) for hours every day, you might be unpleasantly surprised.

I like Dublin. Its on my shortlist. Look to the west of San Ramon Rd and north of 580. There are some houses built in the 1990s with good size yards. Temps... If Dublin is in the 90s, Castro Valley will be in the 80s usually.
