The Realtor would be to help find a rental. I am not sure if Realtors do that in California. Here you can have a Realtor help with a rental and the landlord pays for it. Looks like craigslist will become my best friend!!!!

I know its tough when a person can't put a local address down on applications or resume who wants to look at out of towners right!!! He currently is in corrections here and has already applied with the state and awaiting for the next step which is their testing date. He hopes his POST certification level here counts at least for basic certification because there were a few openings that asked for this that he was interested to as well. He knows his best bet while waiting for testing opportunities preferable in a hospital.

I think the negative side of being an out of towner is someone expecting their relocation costs paid. I wonder if he couldn't put in an interest letter that he is relocating anyway with his spouse so right off they would know that is not an issue?

It is a rare realtor to do that here. And then before signing anything, be sure to check the Property Management Company's reviews on yelp. We got really burned by forgetting to do that.

You mean how it says 8000/month and then just below that 3200/month? But $3200/mo sounds like a pretty good deal for a house that size. I think the rule of thumb is that the amount of rent for a house is about equal to what a typical mortgage payment would be. You're paying the investor's mortgage kind of (but they have to pay property manager, overhead, and periods without renters).

It's a fake listing. They took the pictures off the MLS listing for the property, it was sold this past November and it's only a 3 bdrm and 2.5 bath.
Another huge red flag is they listed this as a 6 bedroom in a 1607 sqt ft house with those pictures for living erea.

Note that Zillow is really unreliable (many listings are out of date and inaccurate) especially for rentals.

It's not a lot to work with, but not impossible.

This from someone who takes home $877/month and pays rent of $350. And I am normally able to save $100/month.

Until hubby gets a job, shop at Ross for clothes (almost as cheap as thrift stores), Grocery Outlet (you won't believe how much you can save on groceries!), get Netflix, check out Papa Murphy's for take and bake pizza for a cheap treat without going out.

And tell the kids that nobody here has seen any of the clothes they are wearing, so it's like having a totally new wardrobe :-)

I think you'll be fine.

Being a person in a similar situation reading this forum, you are very positive and helpful, so just a quick thank you!!
