I haven't priced it recently, but in the past East SJ was only marginally cheaper. And your car insurance rates will jump to offset the lower rents.

how flexible is your work schedule if you can start work before 7 am the the commute time to more affordable areas of the east bay can be an hour away. And within your budget.

Yeah just live in downtown San Jose and take bus 323 to Cupertino. 50 minutes from 2nd and Santa Clara to De Anza College. Many engineers and Da Anza students are observed.
