Hi, I'm currently a senior at a high school in. San Jose, California. I applied to a couple of colleges and got accepted to all of them. I did not apply to Santa Clara University because I missed the deadline. If I were to go there, I'd go the community route and transfer to SCU. I wanted to stay local and I want to become a financial advisor. So my question is, should I go to San Jose State University or Santa Clara University? Which has a better program? Or which one do you think I would learn more from?

I think you will learn more at home to be honest. Literally everything I learned on my own from reading books and doing research on the internet is the same stuff I learn at school but incredibly simplified. The stuff I learned on my own applied more to my jobs then the stuff I learn from school.

Anyways In terms of material being taught I do not think it will differ were you attend. I have moved between 3 different colleges and compared stuff between students and the material is very similar.

Now what will differ between the colleges is the classes they offer. For example one college may provide a class for international sales techniques while the other college may not offer this class. You should look into your major and compare the classes between the colleges. If you think the other program offers classes your more interested in then go for it. I do not think this will have a major impact since you can always learn material you want on your own but just putting that out there if it may concern you.

Once you have a year or two of experience, no one will care what school you went to. Go to the one that will leave you in the best financial situation, i.e. lack of student loans.
