In high school, that was the rich kid's safety school. Going from one Jesuit institution to another was basically a lock. Of course, you had to be well off and deal with everyone accusing you of not wanting to leave mommy.

I think SCU is a respected school.
Bay area, it ranks below Stanford and Berkeley. It is on par with Univ of San Francisco. Ranked higher than SJ State and SF State.
Nationally, it may be respected as a private school but not on par with Georgetown, Northwestern, Boston College, or USC.
