Hi there. On May 1st I was served with a 90 day eviction notice by my land lord's agent. I have found a property to move in with less then a week after i was served with a notice. When I went to drop of the paperwork to housing I asked if there was anything that i should do or if should even give my owner a 30 day notice that i'm vacating the property i currently live in. I was told that because I'm being served with a 90 day notice that i do not need to give any notice to my landlord plus i really would not know if i'm going to be moving in on the date that me and the new owner have agreed on as we currently do not know if the new apartment we want to move in will actually pass the inspection. So anyways section 8 has just notified me that the inspection will be conducted tommorow at 2:30 Pm june 2nd/ we were planning to move out on the 13th or 14th of june. I tohught of being nice guy and calling my landlord to tell him that we might be moving out in two weeks ( even though i was told by housing that i should not)if the new place passes the inspection and he tells that i had to serve him with a 30 day notice so i have to pay him the full rent for the month of june??? That just sounds very dumb!!! If I was given a notice to vacate why do I have to give another notice to confirm that I'm vacating or leaving the property. Can anybody give me some advice on where i can actually get some specific info on this? I have been searching the internet all day and keep running into the same thing which bassicaly states if tenant that has section 8 has done nothing wrong landlord must give 90 day notice to vacate the property. but i can not find anywhere what i as a tennant have to do once being served with that notice. Do I really have to give him a 30 day notice??? Please help and if you can provide some links or a place where i can get that information and under what law title code that would be great....
