Dear People of Santa Fe:

The honking and obscenities you heard coming from a sedan this evening at the intersection of Cerillos Road and St. Michael's Drive was me! The intense honking, verbal tongue lashings, and rude gestures will continue until you brain-dead morons learn how to drive!

Also, the driver of a black Toyota pick-up owes me some money since my car will now require a wheel-alignment due to the fact that I had to jump the island to avoid being hit by you!

Lastly and in closing, I ask this rhetorical question... is it possible to go just twelve months without being hit by one of you? In six years of residing here, I have been hit five times. Further compounding the problem, is the fact that there isn't a competent body shop or mechanic here that will fix my car properly the first time, or even the second time.

Thank you.

AMEN to this! Drivers in Santa Fe infuriate me as well! However, what infuriates me is the slow drivers who are going 10 to 15 mph under the limit! They are the real problem and likely cause of accidents due to their inability to be aware enough to drive the speed limit in the first place.

Thanks for posting rant! (Even if my rant is for a different reason)

You're right about slow drivers... according to AAA, slow drivers cause as many accidents as speeders.

I understand the rant. Someone just passed me on a blind curve on West Alameda going about 50+ mph. I guess I had the audacity to only go a couple of miles over the speed limit. Up ahead a woman was on a bicycle with a child in her basket. I'm not sure who is more stupid -- but the tragedies are just waiting to happen.

Drivng in Santa Fe....you take you life in your hands! You either get the "slo-mo" causing even the most patient person to go bonkers or you get the "hauler" weaving in and out of the lanes like they're in some kind of race! While on this rant, can I vent about all the jaywalking I have encountered? I know this is commonplace in and around the Plaza but this is happening on St. Michael's Dr., St. Francis Dr. and Cerrillos! It is hard enough trying to keep watch on the crazy drivers but now I have to keep watch on people darting into to traffic to get to the other side of busy streets!

And I thought the Wash., DC area drivers were bad!?

EXCEPT for the Southern Florida drivers and maybe LA, this area is waaaay up on my list.
Blowing Red Lights and Stop Signs around here seems to be as natural as breathing?
I find pick-up trucks and larger SUVs to be the main offenders.

Steve

I always complain about Santa Fe drivers until I take a visit to Albuquerque. I don't complain for weeks afterwards. They are much worse.

Farmington is not much better, especially on the heavily-traveled main roads.

I hate people getting their headlights up my tailpipes when I am going the SPEED LIMIT or even 5 miles over.

My reference point for "worst" is El Paso, and the freeway driving there!

If possible, wouldn't it be better to walk everywhere or take the bus?
