Generally the first week of October, but you never know from year to year exactly when.

I went up to the ski basin hiking this morning. The aspen leaves are fluttering like handfuls of gold coins. The ski resort is running a chairlift to the top of the mountain. $10 to go roundtrip and $7 to go to the top and hike down.

It's a great way to spend a Saturday. You better get out there today though, cause it looks like the storm that is over in Arizona is heading our way, and tomorrow might be a bit wet.

Thanks for the info, Vinegaroon. We drove up on the mountain Thursday and the aspens weren't quite at their peak yet. We hope to go Monday or Tuesday to see how they look.

They were not at their peak, but still pretty nice golden hues and warm temps on Saturday. I would think they might be peaking next Saturday. Not sure though, we got some snow up there last night, so I wonder what effect that will have on the trees.

I'm pretty excited to see snow. I started looking over my gear this weekend, taking inventory of what I might need to update or replace.
