I'm not renting mine out, I'm not a people truster, especially with my possessions. When I leave Chicago, I'm not looking back and I sure ain't coming back.

We're actually renting to family (for the first year at least) so that helps.

If I had the cash to make up the difference I'd sell for a loss and call it a day, but I'm not in that position yet. We don't see the point of staying until the market comes back to where it needs to for us.

Most of our family is the the Sarasota / Bradenton area so we'll be back and forth several times a year for a while at least.

Our boys will take some, but I don't think it will survive shipping!

We were in SC for Christmas and it snowed there; The boys had never actually been in the snow and spent every hour they could out in it. I kept telling them it would get old if they had to live with it for weeks or months at a time.

Here are a couple of pics out of the back door and one from the driveway, just counting the days I have left to shovel.!!!

Hey Big House and Topdog352 and Messing About, catch a big one for me today, the only thing that is biting is under a foot of ice!!

I am not a "people truster," either.

I am, however, a "contract truster." Leases are not ambiguous documents, so landlords definitely have recourse (just as tenants do).

Also, I just figure that even if my tenants were to do, oh, say $5K in damage to my house in a year's time, I would keep their deposit, and consider the additional $3K a bargain for living where I want to live.

And, when you live up north you go ice fishing. Well let me tell you Ice is really easy to catch, but when you cook it, it has no taste what so ever! Not like what you catch when you fish down here!

Lol we had to, got out before the market crashed. Of course, we included our entire new living room set, 32 inch tv, and our entire kitchen set.... Yes, we wanted to get out and do NOT regret it. Say some prayers, and here's hoping!
