Finally made it From Connecticut. Closing on a house next Thursday. Trying to decide betwen Brighthouse and Verizon. Anyone have any opinions? Would be looking at a bundle. TV, internet and phone.

I have Verizon FIOS for all 3 and have had no problems. I've been told the fiber optic system is more reliable in bad weather, compared to regular cable or satellite.

We have Verizon FIOS and love it. We had it up North for several years and never had an issue. Right now for a limited time Verizon is offering a free for live multiple room DVR. $99 bundle price. We got the free DVR and the service on this end was very good. They sent a guy out a few days before our installation to bury the fiber optic line to the house. He was a VERY nice young man. Then on schedule the installer came. He was here quite a while since our home is new and has never had cable or fiber optics in it. He also was a very nice man and did a good job. No, I don't work for Verizon but I do love FIOS!

FIOS is the best service we've ever had. We had it in NY and are SO happy to have it here!

One more vote for FiOS. We've had it for several years, and only had one outage.

If you go to Verizon's website and type in your address it will tell you if FIOS is available for your home. I did that from PA and was thrilled to learn we had it here.

FIOS is much faster than cable or DSL. DSL is more reliable than cable. With cable, you share the bandwidth with everyone else on the same loop.

OTOH, the cable companies aren't as outright hostile as Verizon, especially regarding billing. They still suck, just not quite as bad. And the reliability isn't too big a deal, as the cable usually only goes out for a few hours every 3-4 months, usually in the very early AM.

I hear satellite TV is just plain bad. With satellite, you pay for service calls, and they take it as an opportunity for an in-home upsell. "Sign this 2 year contract and this service call is free!" It also has a tendency to go out in the rain.

I haven't heard much about any of the phone services. I use Vonage, and have been considering Ooma.

Decided on FIOS. Had a deal $89.99 a month for a year with free installation and free whole house DVR for life if you sign up on line. Signed up yesterday someone will walk you through the process. Gave you your phone number and appointment at the time of sign up. After a year it goes up $25.00.

If you are getting phone service, you may be interested in Google Voice. You can port your old phone number to Google Voice, and have it ring your new phone number. I haven't done it, but I think there is a one time fee for porting the number, and no monthly fees.
